Since May 1996, more than 30 broadcasting stations have been broadcast as irregular events in the city of Pulheim. Jan Lüghausen, long-time program manager of Radio Central and Central FM, registered in January 2007 at the State Chancellery of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and at the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM) the need for a permanent FM frequency in the center of Pulheim. It took two years to plan and coordinate the FM frequency 92.0 MHz with 50 watt omnidirectional radiation. On December 3, 2008, the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM) announced this capacity for private radio in Pulheim. The popularity of the Central FM brand and the program and music format that was successfully tried out from November 25 to December 1, 2008 in the planned broadcast area for the Pulheimer Barbaramarkt underscored the application by the Pulheim radio producers. Central FM Media GmbH, founded in April 2009, was well advised in advance by the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM) and incorporated the large number of program-related requirements into the nationwide approval. With notice of May 25, 2009, Central FM received the license as a nationwide full radio program.
