On December 11, 1989, the Federal Council granted the license to operate a private radio station in Aargau. On February 28, 1990, Radio Argovia AG was founded by various Aargau publishers, and on May 1, 1990 the first programs were broadcast in Aargau at 90.3 (100 watts, stereo) and 94.9 MHz (500 watts, mono) . Radio Argovia has been broadcasting from the new media house on Bahnhofstrasse in Aarau since October 15, 2005.
